- I am planing to control the door from a smart home system (Insteon) and use one of their switch to connect to the autoslide system with this cable. Should I mount the switch between ground and signal and disregard the power line ?
- Yes, you use the signal/communication line and ground line to connect to your relay device and disregard the power line. The power line can be used to power a low voltage relay if a power source is needed.
- When you say that Z-Wave system can be connected to Autoslide with this cable, could you please give some examples of devices that are possible to connect? Thank you
- I connected a linear fs20z-1 dry contact switch ($35) to Autoslide's cable. Then I included that same switch to my zwave system. It will connect like any other light switch you put in. I have used that same switch hard wired into a garage door remote to operate the garage door. Basically it will look like a light switch to your zwave hub. You create a scene to turn the switch on and then a second or two later turn it off. This triggers the Autoslide unit. Depending on how you have the Autoslide configured, it will either trigger the door to open and then close after the Autoslide timer goes off (this timer is adjustable), or it will open the door if closed or close the door if open. I use the timer so that I don't have to send a second request to close the door. Hopefully this helps.
