When was your company founded? The first prototype was introduced in 2004. We had the first working Autoslide unit available in 2008, which was selected as a Finalist for Best New Product at the Sydney Home Show. The current Autoslide design was introduced to the market in 2011 in Australia and in 2013 to the U.S. market.

Tell your founding story: How and why did you create your company? Brothers Mark Hancock and Darren Hancock saw an opportunity in the residential market for automating sliding doors and windows. There wasn't a company focussed solely on it and there was not a DIY or retrofit solution available. They took their 20 years of experience in the commercial automation business and designed a simplistic and affordable automatic sliding door and window solution for the home.

Who is involved in the business? Autoslide has grown with staff in Australia, China, and now the U.S.A. Mark and Darren are still guiding the Autoslide ship but have recently acquired strategic partners in the U.S.A. to help reach the entire North American market.

What is the background of the key people involved? Mark Hancock and Darren Hancock have 40 years of combined experience in the automation industry. They both work out of Autoslide's headquarters in Australia. At our office in the U.S., it is run by Joseph Castonguay. Joseph has spent time in both the retail and food industries where he specialized in product development and business development. He started paving the way back in 2014 for Autoslide LLC to form and has been the driving force for the U.S. market.

Where is your company located? Autoslide's headquarters are located just outside of Sydney, Australia. Our manufacturing facilities are located in China where we own a factory. That facility is staffed with our own employees and neither our labor nor work is contracted out. This helps ensure a high-quality product produced every time. Our North America office is located in Glendale, CA, in the U.S.A. That location is known as Autoslide LLC and was just recently conceived in the Summer of 2017.

Did you receive funding for your company? There have not been any funding rounds for Autoslide to date. This is something that we are considering for 2021 to help pour fuel on the fires that we have begun. Having to compete in the U.S. market with staffing and marketing while maintaining adequate inventory levels is a challenge. As we continue to grow, this becomes more and more a viable option for us.

LOVE THIS DOOR SYSTEM We've had an Autoslide Product since 1999 and it has gone through 3 great Danes. It gives us the freedom to go away for a few hours and know the dogs can come in and out of their fenced area or lie on the back deck in the sunshine. "This is the best purchase we have made all year! I expected it to be difficult to install but it was surprisingly easy. Just watched the DVD included and read the instructions and it was up and working within about 45 minutes. Dog got used to it within 1 day. Only hiccup is when dog actually decides to sit on the mat instead of walk on it but she is now trained and does it right. worth every penny."
